The acclaimed design for the CBC’s federal election website includes a richly interactive results tracking tool. This live map-based results tool allows election watchers to see not only the broad national picture as they develop, but also to watch live local and regional trends. It allows people to follow key high-profile races while also tracking ridings of personal interest.
Designed at a time of minority federal governments, the CBC was able to incrementally flesh out the website over a series of successive elections. The design has stood up so well over time that the website, originally built in Flash, has now been completely rebuilt. More than ten years after it was designed, the Canada Votes website is still unmatched by competing media websites.
